In cooperation with Liebherr, the Krone Commercial Vehicle Group has developed a new generation of refrigeration systems for trailers. ‘Celsineo’ combines the latest technology, modern design and high quality of all components and raises the efficiency throughout the entire operating range to a whole new level. The system is distinctive for its modular design, scalable output and efficiency. It distributes the cooling capacity between three similar plug-and-play cooling modules that are each separately controllable. Many single-temp applications are covered. The loaded goods are kept at the ideal temperature at all times, while both cooling and defrosting can take place simultaneously. In addition, Celsineo requires little maintenance and is upgradeable. With this concept Liebherr and Krone have pooled their competence and their extensive experience in order to offer the customer the highest availability, economy and dedicated service. TOLL CALCULATOR
Higher toll tariffs have been in force since 1 January 2019. The Elvis haulage collaboration has developed a calculator that can be used by hauliers to calculate exact transport quotes for their customers. This particularly flexible tool takes into account factors including loading and unloading times. www.elvis-ag.de
WARNING SYSTEM
The intelligent ‘Bike- Flash’® warning system detects other road users in the blind spot at junctions and warns turning vehicles with a flashing LED indicator. The system is attached to a mast at street corners and features a thermal imaging sensor. www.bike-flash.de
THINKTANK
With the ‘National competence network for sustainable urban mobility’ (Nakomo) the German central government, its regions and municipalities have created a green thinktank. The network aims to provide information on funding opportunities for creating modern sustainable mobility in cities, to offer support in its implementation, and to enable contact with partners.
IMAGE AWARD FOR KRONE
At the Image Awards 2019 in February, Krone was awarded first prize in the trailer category. The company also came second in the superstructures category. Bernard Krone received the award on behalf of the entire Krone team at the official awards ceremony in Munich and said: ‘These two prizes are fine evidence that we are constantly evaluating ourselves and our vehicles and so are in a position to continually improve both our products and our services.’ The Image rankings were compiled by the independent Kleffmann market research institute. On behalf of the ‘Verkehrsrundschau’ trade journal, over 660 vehicle fleet decision-makers were interviewed individually about the image of the most important providers of commercial vehicles, products and services. In the current survey, 110 brands were on offer in twelve categories.
FUTURE DIALOGUE ON TRANSPORT LOGISTICS
Once again the transport logistic fair in Munich, to be held from 4 to 7 June, will bring together the whole industry. The leading fair worldwide for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management acts as a communication point for companies from all over the world. The Krone Commercial Vehicle Group will be presenting its latest innovations, products and solutions in its familiar position in Hall A6, stand 305/406. The recently established Krone ‘Denkfabrik’ will offer a platform for inspiring conversation with exhibition visitors and experts from the transport and logistics industries, from research bodies and from start-ups.
HEALTH PACKAGE FOR DRIVERS With ‘Schunckvital’ the Schunk insurance group is introducing a new product that should help logistics companies to position themselves as even more attractive employers. It enables companies to provide their employees with individual health packages – with budgets for health services such as spectacles, dentures, hearing aids, and physiotherapy. For goods vehicle drivers in particular, additional services include a round-the-clock telephone medical helpline in 25 languages, online consultation and support in obtaining specialist medical appointments.
FIELD TESTING OF DIGITAL SHIPPING DOCUMENTS
As part of its EU program and with the aim of optimising cargo flows and to facilitate supply chain management, the federal association for road haulage, logistics and waste disposal (Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr, Logistik und Entsorgung, BGL) is participating in a pilot test of electronic freight documents (ecMR) in road haulage. In this test, transport companies can enter transport-relevant data electronically during the test phase, store logistics information and exchange this data in real time via mobile telephone or tablet. The trialling of cross-border ecMR is harmonised with the European Commission’s vision for the future of logistics.
CONTROLLING ROBOTS VIA CLOTHING Dresden-based start-up Wandelbots has developed a piece of software called ‘Wanderbox’ that will enable people in future to pass complex tasks to production robots automatically and without programming knowledge. To enable this they will wear intelligent clothing that transmits their movements to a robot, which can then call up the movements over and over again. Wanderbox consists of a sensor system that can be integrated into ordinary clothing. It can for example be used in manufacturing, whereby saving time and costs in that area. Semiconductor manufacturer Infineon is already using the system successfully.
