For fast and simple side loading and unloading of curtainsider semi-trailers, Krone offers two curtain variants: the Safe Curtain and the Comfort Curtain.
L
oading and unloading of a curtainsider semi-trailer should take place quickly and the driver should be able to complete it easily. At the same time, the tarpaulin should, of course, protect the load securely. Krone has developed two tarpaulin systems that meet these requirements in full: the Safe Curtain and Comfort Curtain.
SPRING STEEL STRIPS INSTEAD OF SIDE SLATS
The Safe Curtain, which is available as an option for Profi Liners and Mega Liners, works without traditional side slats: break-resistant spring steel strips made of corrosion-resistant VA steel are inserted into the material instead. This makes handling by the driver much easier, as there is no more laborious removal and re-insertion of the standard 16 slats per vehicle. “That means, above all, a huge time saving”, says Michael Lehmann, Head of Krone Product Management. “One of the most important advantages is also that the Safe Curtain System is significantly lighter: the tarpaulin, together with the side slats that are no longer required, saves up to 90 kilograms per vehicle. In addition, the risk of injury to the driver is much lower and there are no costs for the replacement of broken or lost side slats. Last but not least, the tarpaulin prevents theft.” The outer frame and floor of the standard vehicles into which a Safe Curtain is fitted are not altered and all the standard securing measures such as Multi Lock can still be used.
QUICK OPENING THANKS TO MICRO UPRIGHTS
Shipping companies can save even more time on loading and unloading the Krone Comfort Liner with the Comfort Curtain, in combination with the central lifting roof. It can be opened in less than 45 seconds. The tarpaulin has its own base frame with side rails and micro uprights fitted at the side. The side slats and standard centre uprights can be dispensed with completely as a result. The driver simply releases four clamps and can then push the entire tarpaulin to the side easily. 28 lashing brackets with 2.5 tonnes of lashing capacity each are integrated into the vehicle. Rear load attachment is possible with a weight of up to ten tonnes: horizontal and vertical locking bars are anchored to the roof and floor via strips for this purpose. The Comfort Curtain is used, in particular, in the automotive industry and by drinks retailers.

“We advise customers individually and discuss very precisely with them how they use their vehicle and what requirements they have”, explains Michael Lehmann. “If a vehicle has to be opened frequently and the freight is weight-sensitive, the Safe Curtain may be the best option. If you need even simpler, faster handling, the Comfort Curtain may be the best solution.” Both tarpaulins are available for vehicles with a three metre interior height and for all standard load securing certificates.
